Tooth Colored Restorations

Composite (tooth colored) fillings are used to restore a tooth that is moderately affected by decay, or has minor fractures and cracks.  In the past, teeth were most commonly restored with amalgam (silver/mercury) fillings. Now, with modern day science, filling materials have significantly improved and teeth can be restored with a more natural and aesthetic form.

Composite fillings are placed in one visit. While your tooth is numb, the cavity is removed from the tooth, medications are placed and the composite material is “bonded” to the tooth. The composite is then shaped and polished, giving your tooth its original shape.  The ability to bond makes the tooth stronger and more resistant to fracture.

Because tooth colored composite fillings are so much better than the old silver fillings, we only use the composite materials for all our fillings.
