Dentistry is full of new techniques! Do you usually feel the administration of local anesthesia (novocaine)? Has any dental professional mentioned that slight reshaping of your front teeth can dramatically improve your smile? Are you aware of new technology in restorative dentistry that eliminates the blackened silver/mercury fillings that mar some smiles? Have you seen how easy it is to whiten your existing teeth?

Absolutely – if you have put aside tax free money with your employer we will be happy to help you with the paperwork to use it. And if you would like estimates to help you put aside the right amount for next year, we can provide you with accurate amounts and make sure you don’t leave it with the employer too!
An orthodontist is a dental specialist that has gone on to complete an addition 2 to 3 year residency program accredited by the ADA of advanced education in orthodontics, following his or her 4 years of dental school. Only a dentist who has gone on to complete these additional years is licensed as an orthodontist. During these additional years of training and education, an orthodontist has learned the skills that are required to treat the misalignment of teeth and facial development with braces, headgear, retainers and other methods.
A person may seek the services of an orthodontist for cosmetic reasons as well as health reasons. Beside the insecurity and low self esteem that dental irregularities may cause, they can also affect a person’s ability to chew and speak.
In adults, severely misaligned teeth and jaws can cause snoring, sleep apnea, cross bites, open bites, over and under bites and many other problems. In infants and children, cleft lips and cleft palates are a common problem. A good orthodontist is instrumental in correcting the teeth and jaws issues in all of these cases.
The techniques that an orthodontist uses will depend on the specific diagnoses. Treatment methods may include braces, retainers or other special devices to realign or guide incoming teeth, or even the re-structuring of the jaw bone so that it heals in a better alignment.
If you have concerns that fall into the orthodontic category, we encourage you to meet with one of our team of specialized doctors to discuss what steps can be taken to help you!
